My hands can do this --- Sassy Child Skirt


Little girls are really nice to dress up like dolls.  This beautifully designed skirt will catch every mother’s eyes because it really makes a big difference in itself.  When combine even with a simple blouse, this beautiful, sassy skirt still stands out and really adds a new style to your own child’s fashion craze.

Materials:
(1) Caron Simply Soft , 4 ply acrylic, 6 oz, Dark Sage
(1) Caron Simply Soft , 4 ply acrylic, 6 oz, Baby Brights Ombre
       crochet hook size – F5 /  3.75mm

Measurements:                        Child                              Project

Stitch Abbreviations:
(ch)    chain

Special Instructions:
(dec) – decrease -  (YO twice and insert hook in next (dc).  Pull up loop and draw through 2 loops. YO and insert hook in next (dc).  Pull up loop and draw through 2 loops.  Pull up loop and draw through all 3 loops on hook.
(hdc) – half-double crochet – YO and insert hook in same (sc). Pull up loop and draw through all 3 loops on hook.
(pc) – popcorn – (4 (dc) in next (2 ch-sp).   Remove hook from loop and insert in 1st (dc).  Pull up loop of last (dc) and draw through 1st  (dc).  Pull yarn to tighten (pc) and press  outward.
Note: Always count all the stitches before going to the next round.

Instructions:
Bottom Side– Dark Sage
1st Rnd – Make 108 (ch) and (sl st) on the beginning (ch) to connect. Be sure that the chains are in one direction to avoid misalignment of stitches. [5 (Ch), skip 2 (ch), and (sl st) on next (ch)]  34X.  5 (Ch), skip last 2 (ch), and (sl st) on the last (ch).  Don’t hide the excess yarn.
Result – 35 (5 ch-sp) or loops

2nd to 4 th Rnd -  (Sl st) on next 3 (ch). [5 (Ch), skip middle of chains, and (sc) on the middle of the next (5 ch-sp) or loop] 34 X.  5 (Ch), skip the last middle of chains, and (sc) on   the 3rd (ch) of beginning loop of previous  rnd.
Result – 35 (5 ch-sp) or loops

5th Rnd – Make (ch).  5 (Sc) on first (5 ch-sp).  Skip (sc). [5 (Sc) on next (5 ch-sp). Skip (sc)] 34X. (Sl st) on beginning (sc).
Result – 175 (sc)

6th Rnd – (Sl st) on next 2 (sc).  (Hdc), 3 (dc), and (hdc) on same (sp). Skip (sc). (Sl st) on next (sc). These stitches become the first petal design counted as one. [(Sl st) on next 3 (sc).  (Hdc), 3 (dc), and (hdc) on same (sp).  Skip (sc). (Sl st) on next (sc)] 34X. Extend an extra yarn, cut, tie it twice, and hide the excess yarn.
Result – 35 petals 
Upper Side – Baby Brights Ombre
1st Rnd -  At the 1st Rnd of the Bottom Side, insert  the baby brights ombre yarn into the (2 ch-sp) of the green yarn (where the excess yarn is) and tie them together twice. (Sl st) on first (2 ch-sp) and hide the excess yarns as you begin crocheting. Make (pc) on same (sp).  2 (Ch) and skip (sl st). [(Pc) on next (2 ch-sp).  2 (Ch) and skip (sl st)] 34X.  (Sl st) on beginning (pc).   
Result – 35 (pc) and 35 (2 ch-sp)

2nd to 8th Rnd – (Sl st) on first (2 ch-sp). (Pc) on same (sp), 2 (ch), and skip next (pc). [(Pc) on next (2 ch-sp). 2 (Ch) and skip next (pc)] 34X. (Sl st) on beginning (pc).  
Result –   35 (pc) and 35 (2 ch-sp)

Connecting Another Yarn Color – Dark Sage
1st Rnd – Insert the dark sage yarn into the loop of the baby brights ombre and pull to tighten it.  Tie them together twice.  Extend an extra yarn of the baby brights ombre and then cut.  Hide the excess yarns as you begin crocheting. (Sl st) on first (2 ch-sp) and make 3 (ch) on same (sp).  2 (Dc) on same (sp) and skip next (pc).  [3 (Dc) on next (2 ch-sp) and skip next (pc)]  34X. (Sl st) on beginning 3 (ch).
Result – 105 (dc)

2nd to 6th Rnd – Make 3 (ch). (Dc) on next 104 (dc). (Sl st) on beginning 3 (ch).
Result – 105 (dc)

7th Rnd – Make 3 (ch).  (Dc) on next 2 (dc) and (dec).  [(Dc) on next 3 (dc) and (dec)]  20X.  (Sl st) on beginning 3 (ch).
Result -  63 (dc) and 21 (dec)

8th Rnd  Make 3 (ch). (Dc) on next 2 (dc). (Dc) on (dec). [(Dc) on next 3 (dc). (Dc) on next (dec)] 20X. (Ch) and then turn around.
Result – 84 (dc)

9th Rnd – Make (sc) on first (dc).  (Sc) on next 83 (dc).  (Ch) and then turn around.
Result – 84 (sc)

10th Rnd -  Make (sc) on first (sc). (Sc) on next 83 (sc). (Ch) and then turn around. Don’t cut the yarn yet.
Result – 84 (sc)

Connecting Another Yarn Color – Baby Brights Ombre
11th Rnd - Insert the baby brights ombre yarn into the loop of the dark sage yarn and pull to tighten it.  Tie them together twice.  Extend an extra yarn of the dark sage yarn and then cut.  Hide the excess yarns as you begin crocheting. (Sl st) on first (sc) and make (pc) on same (sp). Push the stitches outward as you tighten it.  2 (Ch) and skip 2 (sc).  [(Pc) on next (sc).  Push the stitches outward as you tighten it. 2 (Ch) and skip next 2 (sc)]  25X. (Pc) on next (sc).  2 (Ch) and skip (sc). (Pc) on last (sc). (Ch) and then turn around.
Result –  28 (pc) and 28 (2 ch-sp)

12th Rnd – (Sl st) on first (2 ch-sp). (Pc) on same (sp), 2 (ch), and skip next (pc). [(Pc) on next (2 ch-sp), 2 (ch), and skip next (pc)] 27X.  Turn around.
Result –   28 (pc) and 27 (2 ch-sp)

Connecting Another Yarn Color – Dark Sage
13th Rnd – Insert the dark sage yarn into the loop of baby brights ombre and pull to tighten it. Tie them together twice.  Extend an extra yarn of the baby brights ombre yarn and then cut.  Hide the excess yarns as you begin crocheting. (Sl st) on first (2 ch-sp) and make (ch). 4 (Sc) on same (sp).  Skip (pc).  [3 (Sc) on next (2 ch-sp). Skip next (pc)]  12X. 4 (Sc) on next (2 ch-sp). Skip next (pc). [3 (Sc) on next (2 ch-sp). Skip next (pc)]  12X. 4 (Sc) on last (2 ch-sp). (Ch) and then turn around.
Result – 84  (sc)

14th to 15th Rnd – (Sc) on first (sc). (Sc) on next 83 (sc). (Ch) and then turn around.
Result – 84  (sc)

Making of a Tie – Baby Brights Ombre
Measure (12)  20 inches of yarn strands. Insert 2 yarn strands each into the 2 holes of the (sc), both upper sides. Insert 2 yarn strands each into the holes of the (sc), both bottom sides. In summary, there are a total of 8 strands in both upper sides while there are only a total of 4 yarn strands in both bottom sides. Tie them to make a bow or ribbon to close the skirt at the back.
