My Lord says ... Luke 12:13-21

Someone in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, tell my brother to share the inheritance with me.”  He replied to him, “Friend, who appointed me as your judge and arbitrator?”  Then He said to the crowd,

“Take care to guard against all greed,
for though one may be rich,
one’s life does not consist of possessions.”

Then He told them a parable, “There was a rich man whose land produced a bountiful harvest.  He asked himself, “What shall I do, for I do not have space to store my harvest?”  And he said, “This is what I shall do:  I shall tear down my barns and build larger ones.  There I shall store all my grain and other goods and I shall say to myself, “Now as for you, you have so many good things stored up for many years, rest, eat, drink, be merry!”  But God said to him, “You fool, this night your life will be demanded of you; and the things you have prepared, to whom will they belong?”  Thus will it be for all who store up treasure for themselves, but are not rich in what matters to God.”

We usually work hard to find a living and be able to provide for the needs of our family.  Other people become blessed to have abundance in life, while others are not.  Whether we are rich or poor,  God doesn’t consider it, but rather look at what are in our hearts and minds and being faithful to Him only.  In other words, possessions must take second place only to what matters to God.

My eldest brother died last 2011 in a car accident.  He died not being so poor or being so rich.  He retired early before even reaching 59 years old. During his first year of retirement, he gave his time to spiritual healing and conversion.   He brought his own family members, as well as, many people to Healing Missionariesof the Holy Spirit for spiritual guidance and conversion.  The last time I talked to him when I traveled back after more than 5 years of absence, which was, the year before his death, he felt happy and contented for what he had accomplished in life.  He was not after to enrich himself more, but just thought of living simply and enjoying life whatever he had.  He told me that he told my elder brother to retire early, too, and stop enriching himself anymore.   He had encouraged my elder brother, too, to join the spiritual healing and conversion, but my elder brother declined. Only when after my eldest brother died, my elder brother joined this spiritual healing and conversion together with his children. He encouraged me to join this organization, too.  Likewise, my other children joined this same organization, even ahead of me and my elder brother.

" I will sing of your salvation. In you, O Lord, I take refuge; let me never be put to shame. In your justice rescue me and deliver me; incline your ear to me, and save me. Be my rock of refuge, a stronghold to give me safety, for you are rock and my fortress. O my God, rescue me from the hand of the wicked. For you are my hope, O Lord, my trust, O God from my youth. On you I depend my birth; from my mother's womb, you are my strength. My mouth shall declare your justice, day by day your salvation. O God, you have taught me from my youth, and till the present I proclaim your wondrous deeds."

Psalm 71:1-2, 3-4a
